I’m Carson Rickard—a man in a season of growth I didn’t expect, but one that is shaping me. Life doesn’t always unfold the way we plan. Sometimes the very seasons we would never choose become the ones that change us the most.
Scripture reminds us that even in confinement, purpose is never lost. Men like Joseph and Paul walked through seasons that looked like setbacks—but were actually preparation for something greater. That perspective has changed everything for me. In this season, I’ve made a decision: I will not waste it.
Instead, I’ve committed to growth—strengthening my faith, renewing my mind, and developing discipline in a way I never have before. What once felt like limitation has become a place of reflection, clarity, and rebuilding. Before this season, I dedicated a significant amount of time to studying the financial markets.
I didn’t just scratch the surface—I committed to understanding the fundamentals, the language, the patterns, and the discipline behind trading. Over time, I developed a strong working knowledge and experienced success trading on my own. But success without the right foundation can take a turn. And at one point, things moved in a direction I never intended.
That experience forced me into a level of reflection most people never choose—but one that has shaped me in ways success alone never could. It taught me something deeper than strategy. It taught me discipline. Not just in trading—but in life. Because knowledge alone isn’t what sustains you. Discipline does. And that’s the foundation I’m building on now. I’ve also stepped into something I didn’t expect— writing, sharing, and documenting my journey. Not because I have it all figured out, but because I know what it feels like to be in a place where you’re searching for direction, for purpose, for hope.
If my journey can reach even one person who feels stuck, overlooked, or counted out—then this season has meaning far beyond me. Because the truth is… people will form opinions. They will tell their version of your story. They may misunderstand, exaggerate, or even celebrate what they believe is your downfall. But God sees what others don’t.
He sees the private battles. He sees the restraint. He sees the growth happening when no one is watching.
And He is not finished.
Because even when others write their version of your story, God is the final author. What they see as an ending, He is using as a beginning. I’m choosing to walk forward with faith, discipline, and purpose— trusting that every step I take is part of something greater being built.
In time, I’ll be sharing more of what I’ve learned—both in the markets and in life—through a project called
Discipline Over Dollars.
Not as advice, but as understanding.
